Hopes and Expectations

Blogging, and generally publicising my own ideas and beleifs online is something very new to me, as up untill the beginning of this course I did not feel the need to share or push my ideas onto others in any way. Frankly I found it somewhat pointless the way that soo many people post their ramblings online for other to read because I didn't think they were achieving anything by it. What on Earth could I possibley learn from these people? After today's lecture however, I was reminded by Ian about how I have a responsibility as a scholar in training to use the tools available to me in order to advance my own learning. These words really made an impression on me, and made me realize that academic blogging may actually have some usefuleness and validity after all.

With my newfound sense of responsibilty, I hope that I can effectively use this blog to share my ideas with you all, and use your feedback to develop those ideas into a useful body of work. Through this process of writing and feedback, I will endeavor to answer quetions that I think are important, as well as explore new questions that I had not previously thought to be relevant. I also hope that keeping this blog makes me a more adept internet user, as internet navigation is a skill that I am sure will important for the rest of my life. I have always considered myself to be an expert in identifying the sneaky, deceptive tacticts of the media , but upon finishing 'Remediation' I realize that the well runs alot deeper than my own knowledge and personal interests. In postings to come I will question and comment on the concepts from 'Remediation' in the hopes that I will be able to better understand them and put them to good use simplifying, understanding and enriching my academic career and everyday life.

I expect to come out of this class with a more developed perspective of the media, as well as an increased sense of importance and influence on the rapidly changing landscape of the media. At first I did not recognize my own importance to the changing world of media, but now I realize that this blog is my first chance to get my hands dirty and become a intelligent, influencial contributor to this media revolution of which we are all a part.
